Dear Reader,
We said last week that it takes cultivating right character to build a
fulfilled matrimony. Your character can shape your destiny. It is an
important tool in your quest for a successful home. A man who could not
cultivate a desirable character is bound to fall in life.
Today, another important aspect of a man’s character – The Words of
Your Mouth. If you ever dream of building a sweet home, your words must
correspond with the Word of God. The Bible says: A man’s belly shall be
satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips
shall he be filled (Proverbs 18:20).
The words of our mouth can lead to satisfaction and increase, if they
are right words. Your word cannot be separated from your personality,
both are irrevocably tied together. They will invariably, reveal the
type of person you are. If you want a stable home you must watch what
you say, where you say it and to whom you say it. You must tame your
tongue to speak only when it is necessary.
Parents who desire a good family must ensure that no corrupt words
proceed out of their mouths. Careless words must never be uttered,
because such words have negative effects. There was a story I once
heard, whether fact or fiction, I cannot tell. However, the story had it
that someone called his son “crazy”, and to his amazement the
child began to act strangely. The Bible says: Death and life are in the
power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Proverb 18:21).
This verse simply means whether you live or die is determined by the
words of your mouth. Your home can be a heaven on earth by speaking the
right words. We must be careful to speak only those things that will
ensure peace in our lives and our homes. Speak positive words all the
time. Speak words that will glorify Jesus, and encourage family members
to do the same, and it will be easy for your home to enjoy success and
stability. Today, many people including the children of God, need to
learn how to make their words correspond to what the Bible says.
The tongue, as small as it is, is like the steering wheel of a car;
it either directs the entire car safely to its destination or it steers
the car off the road. The words of your mouth are either building your
home or tearing it apart. A wrong word is like a car that has lost
control, while a right word is like taking the car to its destination
safely. Speak the right words and you will automatically live right.
Your tongue is a fruit yielding member of your body. Never misuse it.
If you take time to study people who have seen reaping the reward of
sweet home, you will discover that all of them learnt how to speak right
words. It is what a man sows that he shall reap. Whatever you say
today, is a seed that will germinate tomorrow. My husband often says
“What is too big for your mouth to say, will be too big for you to
become.” Tame your tongue and begin to speak right words. Your words are
important both to God and to men. Do not be careless in words before
God and man. Murmuring and complaining, for instance, can stop the flow
of God’s blessings into your home. It is dangerous (Acts 7:22).
I want to encourage you to watch what you say. Begin to speak words
of encouragement to each of your family members and watch the
transforming effect it will have on you and your home.
The Word of God say: For in many things we offend all. If any man
offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle
the whole body (James 3:2).
What would constitute a perfect marriage according to this Scripture?
A perfect tongue! It is a tongue that selects what it says and one
which speaks the truth of God’s Word, rather than the negative facts of
life. The Scriptures says: What man (woman) is he (she) that desireth
life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep THY TONGUE from
evil, and thy lips from speaking guile (Psalm 34:12-13).
God has promised to grant the desires of your heart, whether negative
or positive. So, say only what you want to have. Instead of saying, “This man can never change” why? It is because the Bible says: “… He shall have whatsoever he saith” (Mark 11:23).
Whatever good you desire to see in your family, speak it into being.
Just like God did, when He desired the heaven and earth to be created.
He gave voice to His desire. So, when you do as your Father did, you
will have what He has. Positive words make for good friendship. Positive
heart leads to right marriage. You shall never fail.
Are you born-again? If you are not, you don’t have genuine access to operate the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).
However, God’s grace for salvation is extending to you right now. If
you desire to be born again, say this simple prayer in faith:
“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today as a sinner.
Forgive me of my Sins. I believe You died and rose on the third day for
my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God
today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”
If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He
loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s
Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’
