Enyimba will build on Pillars – Afelokhai
Goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has said
Enyimba will build on their 2-1 win at Kano Pillars on Wednesday when
they host Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
The People’s Elephant got their first
Premier League win in Kano when they came from behind to defeat their
hosts in a rescheduled league match.
Afelokhai told our correspondent during
the week that the win would spur them on to a good run in the league and
prepare them for their continental task.
“It was a tough game against Pillars on Wednesday but I am glad we got the win,” he said.
“Returning to Kano and playing against
my former team wasn’t easy but the victory showed we have character. It
will help us in our next game because it was our first win on the road
in the league this season.
“People have been saying we are focusing
more on the CAF Champions League than the Premier League but with that
win, and the one we hope to get against Tornadoes, we should convince
our fans that we are still on track in the league.
“Tornadoes have been struggling and
since everybody wants to win away, we will be careful against them to
avoid getting beaten at home.”
Enyimba are 15th on the table with 17
points and three games in hand while Tornadoes are 16th in the table
with 17 points after 14 matches.
