I’m not engaged to Toyin Aimakhu’s ex-husband –Mimisola Daniels
Fast rising Yoruba actress, Mimisola
Daniels, became more known when it was alleged she had replaced Toyin
Aimakhu in the life of her estranged husband, Niyi Johnson.
In fact, so many people went to town
with the gist that Niyi had got over Toyin since Mimi (as she is fondly
called) entered his life.
And to make the story look more
credible, a picture of Niyi proposing to Mimi went viral thus making
more people believe there was really something going on between the two.
“No, I am not engaged to him, the picture that went viral with him proposing to me happened on set of a movie, Risk
(Ewu) produced by me. He is a senior colleague and a friend. I
addressed the controversy the next day when I found out it was all over
the news, even Niyi Johnson did but the bloggers who went on saying I
was engaged to him didn’t say it happened in a movie. We both debunked
the claim on Instagram,” she said.
But even as she said she is not dating Niyi, Mimi said she is currently single and there is no man in her life.
“I want a very caring, loving, down to
earth man that will treat me like a princess. I pray for a God-fearing
and hardworking man. I have suitors, I have not chosen from any of them
as I am taking my time. I will choose one of them anytime soon,” she
said.
Mimi cannot forget how she became an actress.
“Back when I was in Olabisi Onabanjo
University studying Economics, I joined an acting group in Lagos called
Future Concept; it was headed by Dele Ogundipe and that was in 2013. But
I couldn’t keep up with the stress that came with the job because of
school and the distance as we had to go for rehearsals on Mondays,
Wednesday and Fridays. So I had to keep it on hold. When I graduated, I
decided to take it seriously by becoming an actress and a movie
producer.
She has not really stayed long in the acting business but Mimi decided to become a movie producer as well.
“I decided to become an actress because
of the passion I have for the craft. I love acting and it is what I have
decided to do. I am having fun and enjoying my career. I don’t think I
should go into something when it’s not lucrative.
“I had to produce my movie so that it
can help my career because I feel people are too many in the acting
sector so producing my movie will help me promote myself better. If you
have what it takes to produce a movie then you can go ahead and fulfil
your dreams. If you have a good story, cast and crew; then you are good
to go. No, I don’t believe that my career is too young for me to delve
into movie production,” she said.
Mimi said her parents weren’t in support when she decided to get into entertainment industry.
“I actually kept it away from my dad for
a while but I had to open up to him few months ago when I wanted to
produce my own movie. My dad did not support my career initially because
he was scared based on the negative things he has heard about the
industry. But my mum has always been in support of my career.
Eventually, he had no choice but to give me his blessing because I am
old enough to take decisions.”
