Ex-PENGASSAN president joins Edo gov race
A former National President, Petroleum
and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Mr. Peter Esele,
has said that modern governance thrives on research and ideas.
Esele, who is also a former President,
Trade Union Congress, said this at a news conference in Benin, on
Thursday, when he declared his intention to contest the Edo State
governorship on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Hinging his campaign on the development
of education, agriculture and culture, Esele explained that government
must give adequate financial attention to primary education, which he
described as a component in nurturing future leaders.
He said that if elected, his
administration would create opportunities for higher institutions in Edo
to adopt competitive research with a grant of N100m each.
Esele said, “A good leader looks out for
opportunities. Nigerians need to change the mindset that says
everything about Western culture is good and everything about Nigerian
culture is bad.”
