Police arrest suspected kidnappers
The police in Bayelsa State have arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered arms and ammunition.
The names of the arrested suspects were
given as Junior Prince, 29; David Okpara, 23; and Samuel Yellow, alias
Sammy. The fourth suspect, identified simply as Ndubuisi, is still on
the run.
They were said to have gone to the
residence of one Dr. Uche Nwachukwu at Otiotio in the Yenagoa Local
Government Area of Bayelsa on May 3, 2016 and abducted his wife,
Immaculate.
The Police Public Relations Officer,
Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, said the anti-kidnapping unit
of the command swung into action and investigation led to the arrest of
Junior Prince and David Okpara at Choba in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He said the arrest to the rescue of Immaculate on May 6.
Butswat said the suspects confessed to
the crime and revealed that Samuel Yellow, alias Sammy, from Ahoada,
Rivers State, but resident at Okutukutu, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, invited
them from Ahoada for ‘business’.
He said, “Upon interrogation, the
suspects led police to the house of Samuel at Okutukutu, Yenagoa at
about 3.30pm on May 7, 2016 when he was arrested.”
