Considering the ever-changing climate of
worldwide application of technology, there is the need to create a
platform to incorporate technological advancements in construction in
the country, the management of Construction and Engineering Digest
Magazine, has said.
The Chief Executive Officer, Century 21
Systems Communication Limited, publisher of the CED Magazine, Mr.
Kenneth Odusola-Steveson, said based on this, the firm planned to hold a
roundtable and luncheon on the theme: ‘Science and technology
advancement: The catalyst for economic prosperity in Nigeria’.
Odusola-Stevenson said the Minister of
Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, would deliver the keynote
speech, while the Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology,
Senator Ajayi Boroffice; President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Mr.
Otis Anyaeji; President, Nigerian Institution of Quantity Surveyors,
Mrs. Mercy Iyortyer; and Prof. Anya O. Anya, among others, would be in
attendance.
He said, “The aim of the event will be
to garner support and initiate conversation on issues pertaining to the
development of initiatives in technological advancement, especially
considering the ever-changing climate of worldwide applications of
technology.
“The event will also seek to contribute
to scientific milestones and encourage cooperation among various
industries in related fields, including the built environment, providing
a platform for critical stakeholders to give first-hand information on
the importance of innovation as well as the direction of President
Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in building local capacity and
competencies for economic growth.”
According to him, the event, which is
slated for July in Abuja, will feature the presentation and decoration
of Onu with the CED Award of Excellence.
