CIIN takes insurance awareness to mosque

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria has emphasised the relevance of insurance profession to Muslims.
According to a statement obtained from the CIIN on Sunday, President, CIIN,  Mrs. Chioma Chukwuma, said this during the annual Ramadhan Tafsir organised by the institute in Lagos.
“It is a popular belief that spirituality and professionalism are major factors that define us as human beings; hence the decision of the institute to also cater for the spiritual needs of its members by organising annual Christmas carol service and the Ramadhan Tafsir,” she said.
Chukwuma said that the Ramadhan Tafsir was designed to cater for the spiritual needs of the Muslim faithful in the industry and that it provides a unique opportunity to share in the bountiful mercies and blessings that are associated with the holy month of Ramadhan.
She said, “The month of Ramadhan is a special month in the Islamic calendar. It is the month in which Muslims engage in increased spiritual activities, offer charity and generally involve in acts that bring them closer to Allah (SWT).”
Chukwuma noted that the institute was charged with the statutory responsibility of determining the standards of knowledge and skill to be attained by persons seeking to become registered members of the insurance profession in Nigeria.
She said it promotes this by conducting professional examinations for its members with the objective of getting them certified.
